The Valparaiso men's golf team moved up one spot on the final day of action at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., to close the 54-hole event with a third-place finish.

The Crusaders shot a round of 299 as a team on Tuesday, the second-best single round performance of the tournament, to move up into third place with a 54-hole score of 938. The host Wildcats earned the team title by shooting a 901, while Missouri State's Daily Young was the individual medalist with a 219.

Senior Austin Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) posted Valpo's best finish, placing tenth after shooting a 74 on Tuesday to end the tournament with a 231. Gaugert has now finished in the top-ten in each of the Crusaders' four tournaments this season. Junior Kyle Henning (Brookfield, Wis./East), playing as an individual, shot a one-under-par 71 on Tuesday, Valpo's best round of the tournament and tied for the third-best round of the tournament among the entire field. Henning posted a score of 239 for the 54-hole event, good for a tie for 21st place.

Sophomore Joe Harris (Washington, Iowa/Washington) closed the tournament with a round of 78 to finish in a tie for 13th with a 235 total. Sophomore Eric Winters (Elgin, Ill./Saint Edward) matched Henning's 239 and 21st-place finish after shooting a 74 on Tuesday.
