For the second time in three weeks, Valparaiso senior guard Lavonte Dority (Chicago, Ill./Foreman [USF]) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, this time following a pair of dominating performances in Crusader victories last week, including a career-best 33 points on Saturday.

Dority opened the week like a house afire against a Green Bay squad which entered Wednesday's game undefeated in Horizon League play, scoring 14 points in the first 7:16 of the game to stake Valpo to a double-digit lead, a lead it would not relinquish. The senior eventually closed the night with 26 points in the Crusaders' 75-60 victory, shooting 9-of-12 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers, and a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line.

Then, Dority took his hot play of late, which saw him enter Saturday's game at UIC averaging 22 points per game over the last five contests, and raised it to another level in his return to his hometown of Chicago. Dority matched his recent average in the first half alone, capping a 22-point half with an NBA range 3-pointer right before the halftime horn. Dority ended the 70-46 Valpo victory with a career-high 33 points on 10-of-15 shooting, connecting on 5-of-6 from beyond the 3-point line, and 8-of-10 from the foul line. He also matched career highs as well against the Flames for rebounds (5) and steals (3).

For the week, Dority averaged 29.5 points per game in the two wins, hitting at a 70.4% clip from the field, 77.8% from the 3-point line and 87.5% from the foul line. Dority, who now has scored 20 or more points in five of the Crusaders' last six games, is averaging 20.3 ppg in Horizon League-only play, good for second in the league. The senior also ranks second in 3-point percentage (.585), fourth in free throw percentage (.869) and fifth in field goal percentage (.541) within league play.
