Korb Receives Scholar-Athlete of the Week Honors
Tuesday, April 1, 2008

The Horizon League announced today that junior outfielder Karen Korb (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran North) has been named its U.S. Army Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Korb hit .367 in the leadoff spot last week for the Crusaders, helping the team to a 6-3 record on the week, including the first two Horizon League victories in program history.  The junior scored four runs and drove in two more, and also tallied her first two career triples.  On the basepaths, Korb stole five bases in as many attempts, making her a perfect 18-for-18 this season on steal attempts, which leads the league.  She has now stolen 27 consecutive bases dating back to last season since last getting caught stealing.

As a finance and marketing major, Korb maintains a 3.930 grade-point average. She is a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete, as well as a two-time Mid-Continent All-Academic team member.  Korb was named to the 2007 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll last fall, and was a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second-Team honoree as a sophomore.
