Valparaiso University's head softball coach Jerry Stieger has announced that he has added Amy Govert to his staff as an assistant coach.

Govert played for the Crusaders from 1996-2000, and ranks among Valpo's career leaders in several categories. She is third in hits and doubles, tied for second in triples, and fifth in runs scored. An infielder, Govert hit over .300 her final three seasons with the Crusaders, including a .382 mark during her junior season. She ended her career with a .320 career average.

"We are pleased to be able to have completed our staff, adding Amy as a second assistant coach," Stieger said. "She will be involved in all aspects of the game, along with recruiting. As a former player, she already has insight into the program."

For the past two years, Govert has been serving as the head junior varsity coach at Merrillville High School
