Crusader Softball Signs Two Early

Valparaiso University head softball coach Randy Schneider has announced the signings of two student-athletes that have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Crusaders beginning in 2005.

Joining the Crusaders are Mallory Gill and Kara Romsa. Gill is an infielder from Beloit, Wis. who has hit .438 in 66 games for Beloit Memorial High School. She was one of ten finalists for the Wendy's Heisman Award for the top female athletes in the state. She also was named Midwest Player of the Month by Perfect Game last season.

?Mallory is a physical switch-hitting shortstop with one of the strongest arms I've seen," Schneider said. ?She has soft hands, great range, and a tenacious style of play."

Gill is a catcher from Fresno, Calif. As a junior at Edison High School, she hit .375 while tying for the league lead with 25 RBIs. A First Team All-North Yomesite League selection and guided the team to a league crown.

?Kara has the physical and mental presence we are looking for in a catcher," said Schneider. ?She trains year-round and has a wealth of experience playing 80 plus game each year."
