Sophomore Whitney Warner (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) has been named the Horizon League softball Player of the Week today after kicking off the season with seven hits in three games last weekend at the Tulsa Invitational.

Warner kicked off the tournament with a 2-for-2 effort against North Dakota State, while also drawing a walk.  She followed by going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double against the host Golden Hurricanes.  In the finale versus Eastern Illinois, Warner hit her first career home run to highlight a 3-for-4 day, her first career three-hit game.  The sophomore also added two RBIs against the Panthers.

On the weekend, Warner hit .778 (7-for-9) to go along with an .800 on-base percentage and 1.222 slugging percentage.  Warner and the rest of the Crusader squad will return to action Saturday, March 1 at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., with a doubleheader against Fairfield beginning at 8 a.m. CST.
