Crusaders Add Campos to 2008 Freshman Class
Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Head coach Randy Schneider announced today that Jenna Campos will join the Valparaiso softball team for the 2008 season.  With the addition of Campos, the Crusaders have five incoming freshmen for their first season of Horizon League play.

Campos, an outfielder/middle infielder out of Prospect H.S. in Mt. Prospect, Ill., broke school records last season for single-season batting average (.544) and doubles (13) while leading the Knights to a record-setting 30 wins.  Her batting average also led the Mid-Suburban League East Division, helping her earn All-Conference accolades.  Campos was named first team All-Area by the Chicago Sun-Times and also made the Daily Herald’s All-Area squad.  The Chicago Tribune awarded her second team All-State honors, and she was selected to play in the Illinois Super 60 Classic.

“Jenna is a talented athlete with great potential,” said Schneider.  “Her success in high school and experience in ASA this summer should have her ready to compete at the Division 1 level.  We are truly excited about her future.”

Campos will join Kathryn Boldt, Lisa DeBruzzi, Jill Jacobson and Jamie Weinburger as freshman for the 2008 campaign.
