Four Crusaders Earn Mid-Con Postseason Honors

The Valparaiso volleyball team placed three Crusaders on the All Mid-Continent Conference Teams and another on the All-Freshman Team which was released on Thursday evening.

Cyndi Norman (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.) earned First Team All Mid-Con honors for the second straight season after quarterbacking the Valpo offense. The junior setter averaged 10.81 assists during the regular season along with recording 2.81 digs per game.

Heather Hynds (Sylvan Lake, Ill./Mundelein H.S.) and Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) each were named to the Mid-Con Second Team. Hynds, a junior middle blocker, ranks second in the conference with 1.06 blocks per game. She hit a team-leading .262 for the Brown and Gold, while tallying 2.56 kills per game. Robinson, a junior outside hitter, led Valpo with 3.25 kills per game, while hitting .194. She also added 2.78 assists per game.

Middle blocker Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Freshman Team. Her 1.84 kills per game and 0.69 blocks per game helped the Crusaders to a 20-9 regular season, along with a 9-3 conference mark, tying for second place. She hit .210 for the Brown and Gold in her rookie season.

The Crusaders will battle IUPUI on Friday evening at 5 p.m. in the semifinals of the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament, being held in Tulsa, Okla.
