Valpo Volleyball Seeks First Mid-Con Tournament Title Since 1996

CRUSADERS READY FOR CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
Valparaiso enters the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament after securing its first 20 win season since the 1996 campaign. The Crusaders have not won a tournament title since that year.

The Brown and Gold have won 11 of its final 13 regular season matches entering the tournament and are 4-0 in neutral site contests this year.

The Crusaders are 7-5 all-time in the Mid-Con Tournament, with three titles (1994, 1995, 1996).

VU GAMES TO BE BROADCAST ON WVUR
All Mid-Continent Conference Tournament games in which Valparaiso is participating in will be broadcast on WVUR (95.1-FM). The games will also be available on the internet at www.valpo.edu/athletics. JR Radcliffe will handle the play-by-play, with Angela DeGaetano providing color commentary.

NORMAN RANKS SECOND ALL-TIME IN ASSISTS
Junior setter Cyndi Norman ranks second all-time at Valparaiso with 3,432 career helpers. Stephanie Schuricht is the Crusaders all-time assist leader with 4,991.

HYNDS FOURTH IN CAREER BLOCKS
Heather Hynds has also cracked the top-five in Valpo history for career blocks. The junior has tallied 110 this season, bringing her three year total to 349 rejections. Hynds currently ranks fourth, and needs 19 more to move into third place.

MIKOS HAS RECORD-SHATTERING NIGHT
Freshman Liz Mikos went on a blocking spree last Friday evening. Against Chicago State she tallied a school-record 14 total blocks, including ten solos (also a record), in Valpo's four-game victory.

VALPO RANKED AMONG NCAA'S LEADERS
Valparaiso was ranked fourth in the nation in digs per game with 19.68 as of Nov. 10. Individually, sophomore Sara Silcox ranked 16th in the same category with 4.44 digs per game at the time of the ranking.

ABOUT IUPUI (12-18, 9-3)
The Crusaders and Jaguars split their meetings this season, with each defending their home floor. Valpo won in five games at the ARC on Sept. 28, while IUPUI won in three straight in Indianapolis on Nov. 9. IUPUI has won four straight entering the tournament, and nine of its last 13 matches overall. Rebekah Pallikan leads the Jaguars with 4.85 kills per game and a .282 hitting percentage, while also tallying a team-leading 3.46 digs per game.

ABOUT ORAL ROBERTS (20-8, 11-1)
Valparaiso split its two meetings with the Golden Eagles. Valpo dropped a four-game match to the Golden Eagles in Tulsa on Oct. 4 before downing ORU in four games on Nov. 2 at the ARC. Oral Roberts enters the tournament having won 14 of its last 16 matches. Ivana Placko is the Golden Eagles leading hitter at a .316 rate, while Patricia Menezes is tallying 4.03 kills per game. Becky Dreher leads the team with 5.21 digs per game.

ABOUT UMKC (14-17, 5-7)
Valpo split a pair of meetings with the Kangaroos during the regular season. The Crusaders dropped a three game match on the road on Oct. 5 before rebounding for a sweep at home on Nov. 1. Sara Foster is the Kangaroos leading hitter at .255 with 3.05 kills per game. Jana Lacer leads UMKC with 4.21 digs per game.
