Valpo Volleyball Wins Second Straight at Marquette Challenge

The Valparaiso volleyball team won its second straight match on Saturday evening, defeating Lehigh three games to one at the Marquette Challenge in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Crusaders had defeated Austin Peay earlier in the day.

Valpo opened the match winning games one and two by scores of 30-27 and 30-23. In game two, the Brown and Gold hit .353 as a team. Lehigh rallied to win game three 30-23 before the Crusaders closed the match out with a 30-25 victory in game four.

Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) led the Valpo offense with 12 kills, while freshmen Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) and Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) each added nine each.

Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind.) tallied 30 digs in the match, while Heather Hynds (Sylvan Lake, Ill./Mundelein H.S.) added six blocks.

Jeannette Singleton led Lehigh (2-5) with 20 kills, while Rochelle Healea added 14 kills and 17 digs.

The Crusaders (2-1) will return to the Athletics-Recreation Center on Tuesday evening when they host Notre Dame in their home opener. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
