Valparaiso University saw its perfect Mid-Continent Conference record end on Friday evening as IUPUI posted a 17-30, 30-26, 30-27, 20-30, 15-10 victory over the Crusaders at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
The Crusaders saw its 13-match conference win streak dating back to last season come to a close, falling to 23-7 on the year and 11-1 in the Mid-Con. IUPUI improves to 15-12 overall, 8-3 in the Mid-Con.
Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) led the Crusaders with 20 kills, hitting .474. The sophomore also added nine blocks. Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) added 15 kills for the Brown and Gold, while Sarah Schmalz (Corona, Calif./Riverside Christian H.S.) hit .423 with 14 kills.
Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) recorded 26 digs, while Marion Hanson (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) and Lindsey Moore (Wakarusa, Ind./Penn H.S.) each added 18 digs. Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) tallied 11 blocks.
Tiffany Holladay led IUPUI with 20 kills, while Rebekah Pallikan added 18 kills and 16 digs. Tracy Bailey chipped in 15 kills, while Tanna Smith dished out 54 assists and registered 22 digs.
For the match Valpo outhit the Jaguars .244-.170 and outdug IUPUI 102-86.
Valparaiso will once again look to clinch the top seed in the conference tournament and at least a share of the conference regular season title on Saturday evening as the Crusaders entertain Chicago State. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
