Bova Named MVP, Chism Earns All-Tourney Honors at Billiken Invitational

Valparaiso University's Katie Bova (Milwaukee, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels H.S.) was named the Most Valuable Player at this past weekend's Billiken Invitational in Saint Louis, Mo. while Alex Chism (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central H.S.) also earned All-Tournament Team accolades.

Bova dished out 41 assists in the opener against Saint Louis on Friday, while adding four kills and hitting .571 for the Brown and Gold. Saturday morning against the Billikens, the junior added 60 assists with seven kills and hit .462, while adding 12 digs. She concluded the weekend against North Texas with 11 kills while hitting .500 and dishing out 60 assists to help Valpo to the tournament title.

Chism came off the bench in the five-game victory over North Texas to record four service aces. She also added seven digs defensively in the win.

Valpo (9-3) will return to action on Friday evening for its Mid-Continent Conference opener against Oral Roberts. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
