Porché Earns Academic All-District Honor

Junior outside hitter Angie Porché (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) was selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V First Team, it was announced today.

On the court, Porché has led a Crusader squad which currently leads the nations in kills/set, putting down 4.66 kills/set, among the top-ten individuals in the country and the best in the Horizon League by over a kill per set, while hitting at a .244 clip.  Just this past Tuesday, the junior broke Valpo’s career kills record and now has 1,507 career kills.  In addition, she is averaging 2.84 digs/set and has registered 17 double-doubles on the season.

In the classroom, Porché carries a 3.67 GPA as a psychology major.  She was named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll during both the fall and spring semesters as a sophomore and earned Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team recognition as a freshman.  She is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be voted upon in the next several weeks.

To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve.  District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario and Manitoba.
