Valparaiso senior outside hitter Angie Porché (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) was named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after putting together a pair of standout offensive performances last week.

Porché kicked off the week by tallying a match-high 15 kills on .448 hitting in a non-league sweep of Indiana State.  She then stepped up her game in a tight four-set victory over Youngstown State, picking up a season-high 26 kills against the Penguins, just three off of her career high.  She also took 66 swings against YSU, tied for third-most in Crusader history in a four-set match.

For the week, Porché averaged 5.86 kills/set while swinging at a .337 clip, and is now averaging a Horizon League-best 4.30 kills/set in league-only action this year.  She also picked up 18 digs over the two matches, including 11 for her seventh double-double of the season against YSU, leaving her just 30 digs shy of 1,000 for her career.  In addition, the senior registered a trio of service aces in the victory over the Penguins, giving her 119 career aces, tied for tenth in Valpo volleyball history.

With the weekly honor, Porché is again eligible for the Horizon League Network’s ‘The People’s Choice’ honor, an award she won in its first week.  Fans can vote for Porché by visiting www.horizonleaguenetwork.tv and voting in ‘The People’s Choice’ poll on the right-hand side of the page thru Tuesday afternoon.
