Valparaiso junior setter Jenny Pokorny (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after registering her second career triple-double last weekend.

Pokorny stood out on all sides of the ball against Wright State Saturday.  The junior handed out 36 assists in the four-set win and also hit .346 with 11 kills on 26 swings, both career highs.  Pokorny picked up her 10th dig of the match on the contest’s final point to secure the triple-double and also was in on a career-best five blocks.  In addition, Pokorny added a pair of aces from the service line.

Pokorny tallied 30 assists and seven digs the night before at Butler as well, and averaged 9.43 assists, 2.43 digs, 1.71 kills (on .250 hitting) and 0.86 blocks per set on the weekend.  On the season, the junior is posting 10.31 assists/set, fourth-most in the league, and has also chipped in 2.73 digs/set, third-most among Crusader players.  This is Pokorny’s second career weekly honor from the Horizon League office, as she was also named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week back on Sept. 20.

With the weekly honor, Pokorny is now eligible for voting for ‘The People’s Choice’ on the Horizon League Network, with the poll available on the Horizon League website through Wednesday.  Pokorny and the Crusaders return to action Tuesday night with a non-league matchup at Oakland.
