IUPUI Sweeps Valpo

The Valparaiso University volleyball team fell to IUPUI in three straight games on Saturday evening in Indianapolis by the scores of 30-21, 30-24, 30-21.

Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) led the Crusaders with 13 kills. Heather Hynds (Sylvan Lake, Ill./Mundelein H.S.) added 11 kills while swinging at a .435 rate, and Elissa Malthaner (Brighton, Mich./Brighton H.S.) added ten kills.

Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) led the Brown and Gold with 16 digs, while Marion Hansen (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) added 13.

Rabekah Pallikan led the Jaguars with 12 kills, while Michelle Sobocinski added 11 kills and 24 digs. Tracy Bailey tallied nine kills and eight blocks.

The Jaguars outhit Valpo .235-.087 for the match, and outdug the Crusaders 68-57. IUPUI (10-18, 7-3 Mid-Con) also tallied seven service aces to the Crusaders two.

Valparaiso (17-9, 7-3 Mid-Con) will return to the court on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders travel to Indiana State for a 1 p.m. CST match against the Sycamores.
