Valparaiso breezed to a 30-22, 30-11, 30-19 victory over Oakland in just one hour and ten minutes on Friday evening in Rochester, Mich., as the Crusaders finished the first half of the Mid-Continent Conference schedule a perfect 7-0.
Valpo hit .343 on the evening, including .366 in game two and .375 in game three, while holding the Golden Grizzlies to just a .099 hitting percentage on the evening.
Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) led the Brown and Gold with 14 kills, hitting .591 on the night. She also added three blocks.
Jessie Fox (Granger, Ind./Penn H.S.) added six kills, hitting .263 in just two games of action, while Cyndi Norman (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.) contributed five kills on six attempts for an .833 percentage. Norman also dished out 19 assists in two games.
Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) registered 14 digs for the Brown and Gold.
Cortney Varterasian led Oakland (3-13, 2-5 Mid-Con) with ten kills, hitting .304 on the evening, while Heather Lippert added nine kills. Lauren Bramos led the Golden Grizzlies with nine digs.
Valpo tallied 47 digs in the match to Oakland's 39 outblocked the Golden Grizzlies 7-3.
Valparaiso (19-4, 7-0) will seek its 20th victory of the season on Tuesday night when the Brown and Gold travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. for a 7 p.m. match with IPFW.
