Monday, October 11, 2004
Valparaiso University's Amy Palash (Winfield, Ill./Saint Francis H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a pair of victories last week.

The freshman averaged 4.67 digs per game in wins over IUPUI and Chicago State. In Friday's match against the Cougars, Palash just missed a double-double with ten kills and nine digs. She then recorded a match-high 19 digs against Chicago State and added eight kills. In addition, she added two blocks each night as the Crusaders extended their winning streak to ten straight matches.

Palash is the second Crusader defensive player selected for the weekly honor. Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) earned the accolade on September 13. Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) had earned Offensive Player of the Week honors in each of the last two weeks.

Valpo (16-3, 6-0 Mid-Con) will look to set a new school record tomorrow (Tuesday) night as the Brown and Gold look for their 11th straight win hosting Toledo in a 7 p.m. match at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
