Arkansas Ends Valpo's Win Streak at 14

For the first time since September 14, Valparaiso's volleyball team suffered a defeat on Sunday afternoon, falling in five games 30-19, 26-30, 25-30, 32-30, 15-10 to Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Crusaders led two games to one and had a match point in game four, but were unable to pull out the victory, snapping their school-record win streak at 14 straight.

Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) led the way for the Crusaders with 15 kills and eight blocks, while hitting .382. Jessie Fox (Granger, Ind./Penn H.S.) added 14 kills, while Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) added 22 digs defensively. Katie Bova (Milwaukee, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels H.S.) dished out 43 assists, recorded ten digs, and added five blocks in the loss.

Kelly Brewer led Arkansas with 19 kills while hitting .326, while Jennifer Haaser added 16 kills and 11 blocks.

Valpo hit just .126 in the match compared with the Razorbacks .230, and were outblocked by Arkansas 21-10. Arkansas (9-10) also recorded 99 digs to Valpo's 75.

Valparaiso (20-4) will look to rebound on Friday evening as the Crusaders host UMKC at the Athletics-Recreation Center. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
