Monday, September 11, 2006
For the third consecutive season, the Valparaiso University volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2005-06 school year.

The honor is given to college and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. The nominating head coaches must be AVCA members. Valpo was one of 54 Division I programs to be so honored this season.

Head Coach Carin Avery's Crusaders finished the 2005 season with a 27-8 record, won their third straight Mid-Continent Conference regular season and tournament titles, and earned their third trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Valpo and Western Illinois were the only Mid-Continent Conference teams to receive the award.
