Valpo Earns Fourth Seed for HL Championship

Valparaiso has earned the fourth seed for the 2010 Horizon League Volleyball Championship and will face fifth-seeded Green Bay in the first round of the tournament, Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Crusaders finished the regular season at 24-7 overall and 10-6 in league play to finish in fourth place, while Green Bay enters tournament play at 12-18 overall and 8-8 within the league.  Valpo swept the season series from the Phoenix, earning 3-1 victories in Green Bay on Oct. 2 and at home on Oct. 29.

Opposite the Crusaders-Phoenix matchup in the first round will be third-seeded Cleveland State against sixth-seeded UIC.  The lower remaining seed will take on host Milwaukee Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the first semifinal, while the higher remaining seed will play Butler at 3:30 p.m.  The championship match is set for 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, with the champion earning the Horizon League's automatic berth to the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
