Victor Earns League Weekly Honor
Kelsey Victor earned her second career weekly honor from the league office.

Following her All-Tournament performance last weekend in helping Valparaiso claim the Popcorn Classic title, Crusader redshirt junior Kelsey Victor (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) has been named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week.

Victor stood out at the net throughout the tournament, posting a tournament-best 18 total blocks and ranking second among all players in the five-team field, averaging 1.20 blocks/set. She started out with five blocks in the Friday mid-day win over Army and added four blocks that night in the victory over Eastern Michigan.

After tallying a pair of blocks while playing just two sets in the Crusaders' sweep of Rhode Island on Saturday, Victor showed she had saved the best for last in the tournament-clinching win over Big Ten foe Iowa Saturday night. The redshirt junior tallied a season-best and match-high seven blocks in the victory over the Hawkeyes as Valpo earned just its second win in program history over a Big Ten team.

Victor also had a pair of stellar offensive matches in the Saturday victories, combining to hit .391 while averaging 3.5 kills/set in the wins over Rhode Island and Iowa. For Victor, it was her second career weekly honor from the league office, as she previously earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades late last season.

Victor and the Crusaders return to action this weekend at Evansville's tournament, where they will take on Memphis and SIU Edwardsville in addition to the host Purple Aces. With a win over Memphis on Friday, Valpo would have its best start to a season in program history, as the Crusaders currently sit at 8-0.
