Craig Cromwell enters his 10th season as an assistant coach for Valparaiso in 2018.  His duties include blocking, film analysis/exchange, team travel and organizing the Crusaders’ recruiting efforts.

In his first nine seasons with the Crusaders, Cromwell has helped guide Valpo to 199 victories, including seven seasons with at least 20 wins. In 2010, 2013 and 2015, he helped Valpo to berths in the league championship match, while he was part of a staff that coached the Crusaders to runner-up regular season finishes in 2009, 2012 and 2013. He has helped coach Taylor Root, three-time Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and the league’s Newcomer of the Year in 2009, as well as 24 All-League honorees.

At the prep level, Cromwell has coached the Chesterton high school boys volleyball team to back-to-back Indiana state championships in 2014 and 2015 - leading the program to a pair of state titles in its first five seasons. He has guided the St Patrick boys’ volleyball program to consecutive CYO championships (2010-2011), and coached the Lakeshore Region (Boys' U15) team to a fifth place finish at the USAV Beach HP Championships in 2011.  He is the owner and coach of Enigma Boys Volleyball Club.

Prior to arriving at Valparaiso, Cromwell served as an assistant coach for four seasons with the Chesterton high school girls program.  During his four years, the Trojans went 109-29 and earned the program’s first-ever conference championship in 2008.  He was part of the Post-Tribune’s Coaching Staff of the Year in 2007.

Cromwell also brings a wealth of additional volleyball experience to the program.  He has coached for the Trojan Volleyball Club and Diamond Elite Volleyball Academy. Cromwell has instructed at Penn State and Indiana University.

Cromwell was IMPACT certified by USA Volleyball in 2008, and has served as an instructor for the Volleyball Professionals of EVP.  He also is a standout player, playing regularly across the country in numerous pro beach tours with over 25 years of playing experience.

Cromwell and his wife, Lisa, reside in Chesterton. Their son, Kai, currently plays collegiate volleyball at Carthage College.
