Valparaiso University guard Suzie Hammel (Lafayette, Ind./Lebanon H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week after guiding the Crusaders to a pair of victories last week.

The senior averaged 18.5 points against IPFW and Loyola (Ill.), while shooting 66.7% (10-of-15) from three-point range in the two contests. She also added 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Against IPFW Hammel scored a team-best 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, while also going 4-for-4 from the free throw line. In the win over Loyola, she scored a game-high 18 points, including five triples, and added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Hammel is the second Crusader to be named conference Player of the Week this season, as Katie Boone (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove H.S.) earned the accolade back on November 19.
