Launa Hochstetler Earns Scholar-Athlete Honors

            Valparaiso University’s Launa Hochstetler (Berlin, Ohio/Hiland H.S.) has been named this week’s U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week the league office has announced.

            Hochstetler averaged 10.0 points and 6.5 assists per game for the Crusaders in victories at Cleveland State and Youngstown State last week.  She tallied seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists at Cleveland State and followed the performance up against the Penguins with a 13-point, eight-assist, and four-steal effort.

            In the classroom, Hochstetler has a 3.74 grade point average as an accounting and finance major.  She was a two-time member of the Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team, and was named to the Horizon League’s Fall Academic Honor Rolll this season.  She has also received recognition on the Mid-Con Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence and has been a recipient of the Presidential Student-Athlete Award at Valpo.
