Valparaiso University’s Lauren Kenney (Mooresville, Ind./Mooresville H.S.) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a pair of victories last week.

The senior forward tallied a pair of double-doubles as Valpo defeated SIU Edwardsville and Colorado State to move to 3-0 on the year for the first time in program history.

On Wednesday against the Cougars, Kenney tallied 21 points while grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end to help Valpo to the 64-55 win.  She made 7-of-10 from the floor and added a steal and an assist.

Sunday afternoon against Colorado State, she poured in 19 more points and grabbed 11 boards, including seven offensive caroms.  Kenney made 7-of-8 free throws, dished out three assists and registered four steals.

For the week Kenney shot 50% (13-of-26) from the floor and 73.7% (14-of-19) from the charity stripe.  She averaged 20 points and 13.5 rebounds per game along with 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists.  She now has five career double-doubles.

Kenney and the Crusaders will put their perfect record on the line Tuesday evening when they take to the road for the first time this season, traveling to Muncie, Ind.  Tip-off against Ball State is set for 6 p.m. CST.
