Stangler Named to Academic All-District V Second Team

Valparaiso University's Jenna Stangler (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville H.S.) has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Women's Basketball Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The senior has averaged 13.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season in 18 games before missing six of the last seven contests with a back injury. She has shot 48.3% from the floor and 84.9% from the free throw line, where she ranks 32nd in the nation in that category.

In the classroom, Stangler has also excelled, posting a 3.36 grade point average while majoring in biology and chemistry. She is a two-time member of the Mid-Con All-Academic Team.

The All-Academic Team is voted on by members of CoSIDA from District V which encompasses the states Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, along with the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario. To be eligible for Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve.
