Braun, Rietema, and Myers Earn All Mid-Con Honors

Valparaiso University's Tamra Braun (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake H.S.) was named to the Mid-Continent Conference First Team for the second straight season while teammates Betsy Rietema (Grand Rapids, Mich./Christian H.S.) and Carrie Myers (Stickleyville, Va./Lee H.S.) were Second Team and Honorable Mention selections respectively as the conference announced its annual award winners on Wednesday.

Braun is 11th in the Mid-Con in scoring averaging 11.9 points per game while ranking fifth in the league in rebounding grabbing 7.9 boards per night. The two-time First Team selection leads the league in shooting, making 54.8% of her shots from the floor. This season, the junior has recorded six double-doubles.

Rietema, a junior, earns league honors for the second time in her career after being named to the All-Newcomer Team after her freshman campaign. The team's leading scorer ranking seventh in the Mid-Con with 13.0 points per game, she also is ninth in the league in rebounding grabbing 6.1 per contest. At Valpo, Rietema has moved into 18th place on the career scoring list with 830 points in three years.

Myers is honored by the Mid-Con for the first time in her career. The junior leads the league in three-pointers made with 2.78 per game and ranks third in the conference in three-point percentage making 41.0% of her attempts. The 12th leading scorer in the conference, Myers is averaging 11.3 points per contest.

Valparaiso (15-12, 9-7 Mid-Con) is set to face UMKC on Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. Tip-off is set for noon.
