Rietema Named Mid-Con Player of the Week after Three Solid Performances

Valparaiso University's Betsy Rietema (Grand Rapids, Mich./Christian H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a 2-1 record during the last seven days.

The senior forward averaged 15.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game for the Brown and Gold during a five-day stretch. She began the week with a game-high 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds in a win over Bradley. Rietema then added 12 points and eight boards in a road victory over Loyola (Chicago) before posting her first career triple-double, 14 points, 10 rebounds, and a career-high 10 assists, against Indiana State.

On the season, Rietema is averaging 14.4 points per game, third in the Mid-Con, while grabbing 6.8 rebounds per contest, sixth best in the league.

This is the second time in her career she has earned the honor, also grabbing the accolade on November 22, 2005.
