After a dominating weekend in the paint, junior Sharon Karungi (Kampala, Uganda/[Northern Oklahoma College]) was named the Horizon League Player of the Week Monday.

Karungi helped the Crusaders to a pair of wins at the Toledo Invite this past weekend. In Valpo's 74-50 triumph over Chicago State on Friday, the center scored 16 points while grabbing 14 rebounds in just 21 minutes of action. Six of her boards came on the offensive end.

Karungi also led the Brown and Gold to a signature win over host Toledo at Savage Arena on Saturday. She scored the game-winner on a put-back with three seconds to play in a 63-61 thriller. Karungi pulled down 14 rebounds and tossed in 15 points against a Rocket squad that went 29-4 a season ago.

For the weekend, the junior shot 15-of-27 (55.6%) from the floor en route to Most Valuable Player honors.

Valparaiso returns to action this Friday at 7:05 pm at the ARC when it hosts Butler in a non-conference tilt.
