Valparaiso bowling head coach Shon Washington announced today that Charlotte “Charlie” Scheipe has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Crusader program as a freshman for the 2010-2011 campaign.

“I am very excited that Charlotte has chosen Valparaiso University as her collegiate home and place to continue her academic and athletic careers,” said Washington.  “Her addition to the roster provides us with another excellent athlete, one who I am confident will be well-received by her new teammates.  She is a person of character and will be a positive representative of Valpo in both the classroom and community.”

Scheipe is a native of Wernersville, Pa. and a recent graduate from Conrad Weiser H.S.  She is a four-year varsity team member and competes regularly in sport pattern leagues.  Scheipe ended her prep career with an unbelievable run in the Pennsylvania High School playoffs, setting the eight-game county record with games of 253, 224, 244, 223, 212, 235, 236, and 257 for an 1894 series.  She won the Eastern Pennsylvania regional and ultimately walked away with the individual girl’s state title.Pennsylvania

“Charlotte certainly has the experience and skill needed to compete well at the collegiate level,” said Washington.  “I believe our roster is an excellent mix of proven upperclassmen and youth, and with a little luck and some hard work, we hope to consistently be ranked among the best programs in the country.  The future looks bright for the Valparaiso women’s bowling program.”

Scheipe becomes the sixth newcomer for the 2010-2011 campaign for the Crusader bowling squad, joining previously announced incoming freshmen Alyssa Alvarez, Kaity Galka, Jill Larson and Nicole Sanhamel, as well as transfer Katie Shumaker.
