Valparaiso bowling head coach Stephen Anthony announced today that Kaity Galka has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Crusader program as a freshman for the 2010-2011 campaign.

“I am very excited that Kaity has chosen Valpo and will become a member of our program next year,” said Anthony.  “She is a person of character and dedicated to the sport and I know that she will fit in well with our program. It is especially exciting to have a player from northwest Indiana join us; this is a strong area for bowling and I extremely excited that we are able to attract one of the top players in the area to stay close to home to help us build our program.”

Galka, a native of Dyer, Ind., has bowled for Lake Central H.S. during her prep career, helping the Indians to a pair of state championships over that time period.  Galka, who has averaged a 219 over her high school career and a 231 in league play, has finished with the second highest average in the state among high school bowlers each of the last two years.  She is a two-time winner of the Post-Tribune Tournament, as well as twice winning the NWI Pro Shop Challenge.

“Kaity's experience in high school and youth tournaments will certainly prepare her to contribute to the program next year,” said Anthony.  “With the core of our team returning, the addition of Kaity to our roster in 2010 only makes the program's future look even better as we strive to compete and be among the best in the country.”
