Vostry Earns Spot on Junior Team USA 2012 Bowling Squad
Tyler Vostry earned a spot on Junior Team USA 2012.

Valparaiso bowling student manager Tyler Vostry has earned a spot on the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Junior Team USA 2012 after a stellar performance at the 2011 USBC Junior Gold Championships earlier this month.

Vostry, a native of Plainfield, Ill., was one of six male competitors to earn a spot on the Junior Team USA 2012 squad following the championships.  The top four males in the final standings earned automatic spots on the national team, while Vostry was one of two at-large selections to the team.  The ten-person squad will be filled out following the 2012 USBC Team USA Trials in January.  Junior Team USA competes in several prestigious events all over the world, such as the World Youth Championships.

Vostry finished the Junior Gold Championships in ninth place, with a total pinfall of 9,909 pins over the 46 games.  He closed the championships on a high note, rolling games of 299, 269 and 267 within a four-game stretch en route to a final block total of 1,806 pins, good for second among all bowlers.  He also posted an 11-5 mark in match play over the final two blocks, matching the second-best record in the field.
