Valpo Closes Out Final Fall Tournament

#15 Valparaiso finished up its final tournament until January on Saturday at the Big Red Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., posting a 1-3 record.

Valpo opened the final day of action against Elmhurst and posted a 998-872 victory, as senior Sadie Jasinski (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) one-upped her 268 from Friday with a game of 275 in the win over the Blue Jays.  The 275 moves Jasinski into a tie for fifth place on the Crusaders’ top-ten single-game efforts all-time, and makes her one of just two bowlers in program history with multiple efforts among the top-seven scores.

Jasinski again broke 200 in Valpo’s next match, posting a 203 against #16 McKendree, but nobody else rolled better than a 182, as the Crusaders fell 1090-857.  Fifth-year senior Torrie Decker (Van Wert, Ohio/Van Wert [Robert Morris (Ill.)]) registered a 217 game in the next contest, but was the only Crusader above 200 in a 980-912 defeat against #8 UW-Whitewater.  Decker also paced Valpo in the tournament finale against #2 Arkansas State, rolling a 236, but it would not be enough in a 1007-915 loss.

Valparaiso (21-21) is now idle from tournament action until mid-January, when the Crusaders will compete at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark.
