Saturday, November 15, 2008
Crusader senior Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) earned All-Region honors for the fourth time in as many years as the Valparaiso women’s cross country team closed out its 2008 campaign with a 28th-place finish Saturday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Crusaders accumulated 750 points for their 28th-place showing.  Michigan took home the team title with 72 points, while Michigan State’s Nicole Bush was the individual champion.

Rolf completed the 8K course Saturday in 21:56.2, good for a 24th-place finish and less than 30 seconds outside of the top-ten.  The finish assured Rolf of receiving All-Region honors as she has every year of her career with the Crusaders, awarded to the top-25 finishers at each regional.

Caitlin Sauerhage (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun [Indiana]) was the second Crusader across the line, covering the 8K in 24:39.5 to place 173rd.  Whitney Bowman (Portage, Ind./Portage [Purdue]) finished in 180th position with a time of 24:47.4, while Lindsey Gilman (South Bend, Ind./Marian) crossed the line in 24:57.0 for a 185th-place finish.  Sara Christensen (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) closed out the Crusader scorers with a 188th-place showing, completing the race in 24:58.3.
