Valpo Women Conclude Rain-Shortened Indiana Invitational
Erika Pfaender led Valpo with a round of 77 on Sunday.

Valparaiso’s women’s golf team finished the 18-hole, rain-shortened Indiana Invitational on Sunday morning, the Crusaders’ final tune-up for the Horizon League Championships.

The Crusaders finished in 15th place with a team total of 337 on the 6,142-yard, par-72 Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.

The host Hoosiers won the tournament by seven strokes over Ball State with a 298 team total.

Erika Pfaender (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) led the Crusaders with a five-over par round of 77, tying for 16th place overall.

Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) fired an 86 for Valpo on the day while Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale H.S.) and Jessica O’Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) each posted rounds of 87 on Sunday.  Brianna Davy (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) carded a 90 to round out the Crusader lineup.

Kristinni Cain of Indiana won the individual title on the third hole of a playoff after shooting a one-over par 73.

Valparaiso will return to action April 27-29 at the Horizon League Championships held in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
