Led by a round of 77 from junior Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd), the Valparaiso women's golf team sits in sixth place after the first day of action at the Green Bay Invitational.
Valpo posted a team total of 330 in Monday's opening round to sit in sixth place. Indianapolis leads the team standings with a round of 306, while three players are tied for top individual honors after day one with a round of 73. Valpo posted the best team score among Horizon League squads on Monday, besting Loyola and a pair of Green Bay teams.
Voigt sits in the top-10 after Monday's opening round, going out in 38 and coming home in 39 for a round of 77 to end the day in a tie for tenth place. The junior paced the tournament field by posting 15 pars in her 18 holes. Junior Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) ranked second in the Crusader contingent on Monday and sits in a tie for 19th place following a round of 81.
Junior Brianna Davy (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) is tied for 35th place after the opening round, posting an 84 on her scorecard. Sophomore A.J. Selig (Hortonville, Wis./Appleton West) registered an 88 on Monday, good for a tie for 49th place, while junior Erika Pfaender (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) rounded out the Crusader contingent with a 91, good for a tie for 57th place.
Valparaiso closes out the Green Bay Invitational on Tuesday with one more 18-hole round.
