Valpo Women Finish Day 1 in Peoria

Playing 36 holes on the same day for the first time in program history, the Valparaiso University women’s golf team finished Monday in 10th place at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic held at WeaverRidge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill.

Valpo turned in team rounds of 396 and 411 for a 36-hole total of 807 on the 6,137-yard, par-72 course.  Drake leads the event shooting 601 (307-294) heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Annie Nolan (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) led the way for Valpo shooting 88 in the first round on the way to a two-round total of 188 (88-100).  Kathleen Cooper (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) added pair of consistent rounds of 95 and 97 (192).  Jessica O’Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) carded 204 (105-99) over 36 holes while Sarah Al-Momar (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) shot 223 (108-115) to round out the Crusader lineup.

Individually, Olivia Lansing of Drake leads the tournament shooting one-over par 145 (75-70).

Valparaiso will return to the links on Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
