Voigt Leads Crusaders on Final Day of Butler Fall Invitational

Junior Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) matched the second-lowest round in program history to lead the Valparaiso women's golf team as it finished in 10th place Tuesday afternoon at the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Crusaders shot a round of 323 to close out the 36-hole event, improving by 18 strokes over their performance in Monday's opening round. Bowling Green won the tournament with a score of 600, while Bradley's Danielle Lemek earned individual medalist honors with a 144.

Voigt improved by 11 strokes over her first-round performance to close out the tournament on Tuesday with a round of 74, matching the second-best round all-time by a Crusader. The junior's total score of 159 was good for a tie for 26th place. Junior Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) also improved by 11 shots, posting a round of 78 on Tuesday to close with a 167, tying for 44th place.

Junior Erika Pfaender (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) finished in a tie for 48th place, shooting matching 84s to finish with a total of 168. Senior Jessica O'Brien (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) shot an 87 on Tuesday to finish at 171, tied for 55th place, while redshirt junior Annie Nolan (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) closed the tournament with an 89 to finish in 59th position with a total of 177.

Valparaiso returns to the links next Monday, October 15 at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Mo., a two-day tournament.
