Valparaiso University junior Courtney Budd (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West H.S.) was named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Crusaders shutout IUPUI on Sunday in their conference opener.

Budd has always around the ball anchoring a Crusaders defense that allowed just seven shots in the match. She also helped Valpo by winning 50-50 balls and clearing the defensive end.

Valpo will travel to Macomb, Ill. this Friday as the Crusaders face Mid-Con foe Western Illinois in a 3 p.m. match.
