Three members of the Valparaiso University women's soccer team were named to the All Mid-Continent Conference Second Team on Thursday evening when the conference handed out its annual awards.

Senior Courtney Budd (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West H.S.), sophomore Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township H.S.), and freshman Liberty Ziegahn (Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service H.S.) all were honored by the Mid-Con for their performance this past season.

For Budd, her senior campaign marked her third straight All-Conference honor. She earned First Team accolades as a junior, and was named to the Second Team as a sophomore. This year, Budd started 16 matches for Valpo, helping to anchor the defense.

King was named to the Mid-Con Second Team for the second straight year. She led the Crusaders is scoring with four goals and ten points, adding a pair of assists.

Ziegahn was a mainstay in the Valpo defense from the moment she arrived on campus this season. She started all 17 contests, and helped the Crusaders defense allow just 35 goals, the second fewest in school history.

Valpo finished the season 3-11-3 overall and 1-2-3 in the Mid-Con, placing fifth.
