Valparaiso ran its winning streak to four matches on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders defeated IPFW 3-1 in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Lorna Torrez (Dallas Center, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes H.S.) put the Crusaders in front just 3:15 into the match, as she got past the defense and scored from ten yards out, with Allison Swanson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) garnering the assist.

Kristi Dixon (Ortonville, Mich./Notre Dame Prep H.S.) made it 2-0 Valpo as she scored from 25 yards out after picking up a loose ball for her first goal of the season.

IPFW (5-10) cut the lead in half just 2:43 into the second half as Kristin Mahoney scored off of a rebound of a corner kick for the Mastodons lone goal of the afternoon.

Swanson then added an insurance goal at the 64:35 mark scoring from just inside the top of the box after receiving a feed from Lindsay Holley (Waldorf, Md./Westlake H.S.).

Valpo had pressure on Mastodons' goalkeeper Shannon Lynn throughout the match, forcing her to make eight saves. Danielle Guerra (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) made four stops for the victory for the Brown and Gold.

The Crusaders outshot IPFW 14-11 for the match, with 11 of the 14 Brown and Gold's shot being on frame. Valpo also won six corner kicks while giving up just two.

Valparaiso (7-6-1) has moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season with the victory, and will look for its fifth straight win on Friday as the Crusaders head to Macomb, Ill. for a 3 p.m. match against Western Illinois.
