Women's Soccer Used Their Hands to Support the Salvation Army

The Valparaiso University women's soccer team volunteered to assist the Salvation Army of Porter County in the annual Angel Tree Christmas Program on Wednesday (Dec. 16).  Members of the soccer program assisted recipients as they acquired their gifts and food packages as well as carried them to their vehicles.

The Angel Tree Christmas Program is run by the Salvation Army of Porter County.  Individuals can pick up an angel with a wish list on it for Christmas, and purchase the gifts and return them to the Salvation Army.  The recipients can pick the packages up on a specific day.  The distribution can be very busy and all hands are needed, so today the soccer team used their hands to support the community.

"It was a wonderful experience for all as the players distributed bicycles and other great toys,” said head coach John Marovich.  We can imagine the smile and great joy these kids will have on Christmas.  It was a wonderful way to start our Christmas Holiday."
