Pacific Blanks Valpo 5-0

The University of Pacific scored twice in the first ten minutes of the match, then two more times in the first two minutes of the second half on the way to a 5-0 victory over Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon at the Cal Poly Tournament in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Regina McGee scored at the 7:28 mark to open the scoring, then again on a breakaway just over two minutes later to put the Tigers up 2-0. Pacific outshot Valpo 12-4 in the first half.

Suzy Peterson extended the lead to 3-0 just 45 seconds into the second half with a header into the left corner. Maggie Barsotti added a fourth goal 1:08 later and Gabby Olivares concluded the scoring at the 72:04 mark.

The Tigers outshot Valpo 20-11 in the match, holding a 17-8 advantage on goal. Pacific (4-0) held a 7-3 advantage on corner kicks.

In goal, Kristen Templin (Madison, Wis./Middleton H.S.) made ten saves for the Brown and Gold.

Valpo (0-3) travels to IPFW on Friday evening for a 6 p.m. match.
