Valpo Women's Season Ends with 1-1 Against Centenary
Sunday, November 2, 2003
For the third time during Mid-Continent Conference action Valparaiso played to a draw, as the Crusaders tied Centenary 1-1 in double-overtime on Senior Day Sunday morning at Eastgate Field.

After both sides played a scoreless first half, Centenary found the scoreboard first early in the second half. Mindi Levinski fired a blast from 30 yards out over Valpo goalkeeper Kristen Templin (Madison, Wis./Middleton H.S.) just 1:00 into the stanza.

Valpo answered 3:11 later, as Amy Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Lakota West H.S., Ohio) took advantage of a misplay by goalkeeper Lindsey Stafford and scored from two yards out.

Neither team could find the back of the net the rest of the way. Valpo outshot Centenary 20-10 for the match and held an 8-4 advantage on goal. Both teams hit the crossbar in the final three minutes of the second overtime, but the ball never crossed the goal line.

Templin made three saves for the Brown and Gold, while Stafford made seven stops for the Ladies. Valpo had six corner kick opportunities while Centenary (10-7-2, 3-2-1 Mid-Con) had three.

With the tie, Valparaiso falls one point shy of qualifying for the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament. The Crusaders end their season with a 3-11-3 record overall and 1-2-3 in the Mid-Con.
