IUPUI came into Eastgate Field on Sunday afternoon and defeated Valparaiso 2-0 in the Mid-Continent Conference opener for each school.
The Jaguars jumped in front at the 32:08 mark as Maggie Mistovich headed home a Sarah Leonard cross in the box for her second marker of the year. Angie Pilat added an insurance goal for IUPUI at 60:44 as she took a pass from Sheri Levack and scored on a two-on-one for her fourth tally of the campaign.
Valparaiso outshot the Jaguars 14-11 for the match and had several opportunities, but Jessie Mann made five saves in goal for the Jaguars. Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made three saves for the Crusaders, while Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township H.S.) made a sliding stop in the corner of the goal early in the first half to prevent another IUPUI goal.
