Valpo Extends Unbeaten Streak to Six with 2-2 Draw at Drake

Valparaiso extended its unbeaten streak to six with a 2-2 double overtime tie against Drake on Sunday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa.

The host Bulldogs struck first at the 9:40 mark as Nicole James scored an unassisted tally.

Allison Swanson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) tied the match at one as she took a Sonney Ziegahn (Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service H.S.) corner kick at the near post and beat goalkeeper Erin Jarvis.

Amanda Meyer (Somerset, Wis./Somerset H.S.) put the Crusaders in front at the 50:14 mark of the match with an unassisted goal after driving down the left side and scoring to the far post.

Drake (11-4-3) tied the match with 4:45 remaining as Kristin Underwood took a cross from Elise Rau and scored.

Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made 13 saves for the Crusaders, while Jarvis made six stops for the Bulldogs.

Valparaiso (8-6-2) will return to action on Thursday evening with a 5 p.m. match against Oral Roberts. The contest will be played at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School Field.
