Valpo Ends Exhibition Play with Scoreless Draw against Drake

Valparaiso finished its exhibition season on Sunday afternoon with a scoreless tie against Drake at Eastgate Field in preparation for the 2006 regular season.

The Bulldogs outshot the Crusaders 11-7 in the match, holding a 5-3 advantage on goal. Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made three stops for Valpo, playing the first 75 minutes, while Mele Cabral (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) had two saves in relief.

Drake's Jenny Schroeder made two first half saves while Erin Jarvis made one stop in the second stanza.

Drake had seven corner kick opportunities in the match while the Crusaders managed just one.

Kendall Brown (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel Catholic H.S.) had three shot attempts to lead the Brown and Gold, including two on frame, while Danielle Oswald fired four shots for Drake.

Valparaiso will open the 2006 regular season on Friday afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind. against the Sycamores of Indiana State. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CDT.
