Valparaiso's women finished in fourth place at the Ball State Invitational on Friday and Saturday evening in Muncie, Ind.
The Crusaders tallied 254 points, six and a half more than fifth place Baldwin Wallace. Ball State won the meet with 1,159 points, followed by Marshall and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Butler was sixth.
Britt Nelson (Cortland, N.Y./Homer H.S.) finished ninth for the Crusaders in the 500 freestyle (5:19.23) on Friday night, while Allison Clark (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood H.S.) finished in the same position in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.72.
On Saturday, Clark finished eighth in the 400 IM in 4:53.18. Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) was ninth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.11. Lauren Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman H.S.) turned in Valpo's highest individual finish of the meet, placing fifth in the 200 backstroke. The junior finished with a time of 2:18.29.
Valparaiso will take a week off before heading to Rochester, Mich. December 2-4 for the Mid-Continent Conference Championships. Events will begin at 9 a.m. CST each day, with the evening session starting at 5 p.m. CST.
