Valpo Places Seventh at Mid-Con Championships

Valparaiso closed out its 2005-2006 campaign Saturday on the final day of competition at the Mid-Continent Conference Championships.

Katie Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) posted an eighth-place finish on the final day of the meet. Jajtner touched the wall in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.98.

Two Crusaders notched top-tens in the 200 breaststroke. Leah Parker (Cleburne, Texas/Cleburne H.S.) came home eighth with a time of 2:34.80, while Shannon McDonald (Crown Point, Ind./Marian Catholic H.S.) placed second in the ?B' final and tenth overall. McDonald's time of 2:33.96 is the fifth-best effort in the event in Valpo history.

Valparaiso posted 223.5 points over the three-day meet, comprised of the seven Mid-Con schools, including two associate members. Oakland captured the team championship with 970 points.
